Georgia Address Format With Examples

Georgia is at the intersection of Eastern Europe and West Asia. It shares its borders with Russia, Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. How people communicate in this country varies, especially when writing the address format for mail. During the Soviet era, addresses in Georgia followed a centralized, Russian-style format. Many places still unofficially use or reference this structure. Since there is no universal standard, Georgian uses its unique script, Mkhedruli, and when you transliterate the addresses into Latin script, there are a lot of inconsistencies. In villages or older parts of cities, people refer to places by landmarks or local names rather than official street names or numbers. Moreover, there are different types of addresses, each with a specific element requirement. If you want to send mail to a client or customer in Georgia but don’t know the correct address format, we will help you. We have listed all the different types of addresses, as well as the format and examples for each.

Georgia Address Format Breakdown

Recipient Name

In the first line, start by writing the recipient’s name. If you are sending the mail to a business, the company’s name will come in the first line. Write the person’s name and department in the second and third lines. Add ATTN. in front of the person’s name to ensure the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the correct office and desk.

Example:

MR. DAVID KETEVAN
Or
ABC LTD.

ATTN: MR. DAVID KETEVAN
HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT

Street Address

Write the street’s name, followed by the building and apartment number. If the recipient uses a P.O. box, write the term “P.O. Box” and then the box number.

Example:

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

Or

P.O. BOX 67

Postal Code and City

Write the four-digit postcode, followed by the name of the city. Some of the famous cities in Georgia are Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, and Zugdidi.

Example:

1324 TBILISI

Country Name

Write the name of the country on the last line. If you send international mail to Georgia, write the name in capital letters.

Example:

GEORGIA

Special Considerations to Write a Georgia Address

  • Address Line Alignment: All the lines should be left-aligned.
  • Address Placement: Write the address on the bottom right-hand corner of the envelope.
  • Punctuation: Do not add commas between the elements sharing the same line.

Examples of Different Types of Georgia Address Formats

Residential Address Format

Write the recipient’s name, street address, PO box number, postal code, city, and country name. Every address element except postal code and city will come in separate lines.

Example:

MR. DAVID KETEVAN

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

Rural Address Format

Typically, the streets in rural areas of Georgia do not have formal names. In this case, write the village’s name and the nearest larger town. Add the rest of the address elements in the same way as the residential address.

Example:

MR. DAVID KETEVAN

VILLAGE OF USHGULI

NEAR MESTIA

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

Business Address Format

Instead of the recipient’s name in the residential address, write the company’s name in the first line. Write the person’s name in the second line, and add their department in the third line.

Example:

ABC LTD.

ATTN: MR. DAVID KETEVAN
HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

International Address Format for NGOs and Organizations

Write the organization’s name in the first line and the specific department in the second line. Place all the other address components, except the recipient’s name, in the same way as the residential address.

Example:

UNICEF GEORGIA

ATTN: EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

P.O. Box Address Format

In the residential address, instead of the street address, write the term “P.O. Box” and then the P.O. box number.

Example:

MR. DAVID KETEVAN

P.O. BOX 45

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

Military Address Format

Except for the first two lines, the military address format follows the same structure as the residential address format. In the first line, write the rank and full name of the person. In the second line, write the military unit number.

Example:

CAPTAIN DAVID KETEVAN

MILITARY UNIT 67

P.O. BOX 45

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

Government Office Address Format

In the residential address, instead of the recipient’s name, write the office and department names on the first and second lines, respectively.

Example:

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
ATTN: DEPARTMENT OF EXCHANGE

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

Address Format for Multiple Recipients

If you want to mail multiple people in the same household or business, write each name on separate lines of the residential and business addresses.

Example (for family) Example (for businesses)

MR. DAVID KETEVAN

MRS. NINO KETEVAN

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

GEORGIA

If you send mail using courier services like DHL or FedEx, add the recipient’s contact details in the last line of the residential address. This will help the delivery agent contact them if they find the exact address difficult.

Example:

MRS. NINO KETEVAN

ABANO STREET #34 FLAT 75

1324 TBILISI

GEORGIA

PHONE: +995 32 1423567

Our Customers Say It Best

We have been using PostGrid for a few months. It works with our CRM, the software interface, efficiency, automation, and integration with no issues. Their support team is quick with resolution and their web portal is easy to access and transparent in retrieving transactions and analyzing weekly & monthly sending limits.

Chief Technology Officer

This API has turned out to be a great asset. We started off with 4000 mailings for 3 months and never had any downtime. I requested an increase in the sending limits and it was given to me in 10 minutes! I also have used PostGrid to verify our mailing lists. It’s been great to us and customer support is very reliable.

Vice President Of Engineering

We wanted a low-cost, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-use direct mail platform. Finally, PostGrid took all my worries in terms of snail mail. The pricing is very reasonable! There is almost no delay in the SLA’s commitment, and it is exciting to watch automation in action. Easy to build and maintain the mailing lists of our patients. Not to forget, reports can be generated, and a block editor can be used too!

Director Of Operations

We were looking for a solution to outsource and automate our process of mailing welcome letters to our customers. Previously had 2 dedicated people printing the postage label, stamping it manually and stuffing the mail and dropping it off at the postal office. It was very inefficient and could have caused major compliance issues. PostGrid helped us eliminate the entire manual process with their automation and API solution, now sending all mails smoothly.

Director of IT and Operations

Very straightforward, fast, and reliable address standardization API. We collect address data from multiple patients, clinical records, and providers and attempt to combine them into one. Addresses are often redundant or formatted differently in this process, which is our biggest challenge. PostGrid makes it easy for us to solve both of these problems simply by appending PostGrid to our datasets.
