Recipient Name

Write the complete name of the person in the first line. You can add a title like K for Mr., κα for Mrs., and Η κα for Ms. If you are sending the mail to a business, write the company’s name in the first line. In the second line write the person’s name and in the third line add their department. You can also add ATTN. in front of the person’s name to ensure that the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the right desk and office.

Street Address

Write the name of the street and house/building number for the residential and business addresses. If the recipient uses a PO box, write TK (αχυδρομικός Κωδικός is Greek for PO box) and then the box number.

Postal Code and City or Town

Write them in the order mentioned above. The postal codes are called Ταχυδρομικός Κώδικας in Greece and they are a five digits number. Some of the major cities in Athens are Volos, Athens, Chania, and Patras.

Country Name

Write the name of the country in the last line. When you are sending an international mail to Greece, write the country name in capital letters.

Residential Address Format

Write the name of the recipient, street address, or PO box number, postal code, city or town, and country name. All these components have their line.

Rural Address Format

Typically, in rural areas, the streets do not have a formal name. To ensure correct delivery, write the name of the village, followed by the nearest larger town, and then the rest of the address elements.

Business Address Format

Write the business’s name in the first line, the person’s name in the second line, and their department in the third line. The rest of the address components will remain in the same place as the residential address.

International Address Format for NGOs and Organizations

Instead of the recipient’s name in the first line of the residential address, write the name of the organization. The specific department goes in the second line.

PO Box Address Format

In the residential address, instead of the street address, write TK and then the PO box number.

Military Address Format

To write the military address format, follow the same structure as the residential address format except for the first two lines. In the first line, write the rank and full name of the person. In the second line write the military unit number.

Government Office Address Format

It follows the same format as the residential address except for the beginning. Write the office and department name on the first line and second line respectively.

Address Format for Multiple Recipients

If you are sending mail to multiple people in the same household or business, write all the names in separate lines.
