Tunisia Address Format With Examples
Tunisia is a country in North Africa along the southern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the northernmost country on the African continent, giving it a unique geographic and strategic position between Europe and Africa. To the west, it borders Algeria, and to the southeast, it borders Libya.
People within the nation write address formats differently for several historical and administrative reasons. There is no fully universal or rigorously enforced address format across the country. Urban areas, such as Tunis, Sfax, or Sousse, may follow relatively structured systems with street names, numbers, and postal codes. However, many rural or semi-urban areas rely on landmarks, neighborhood names, or village identifiers instead of formal addresses.
The French colonial administration also influenced its postal and administrative systems, introducing a structured system of street naming and zoning, especially in cities. After independence, Tunisia developed its system, but it still reflects a mix of French-style formality and local, informal naming traditions, leading to inconsistencies in format.
Moreover, there are different types of addresses, each with its specific element requirements. If you need to mail a client or customer in Tunisia but are unsure of the correct address format, we can assist you. We have listed all the different types of addresses, along with their formats and examples.
Tunisia Address Format Breakdown
Recipient Name
In the first line, write the recipient’s full name. You can also add honorific titles like “Monsieur” and “Madame” for “Mr.” and “Ms./Mrs.” If you are sending the mail to a business, the company name will appear in the first line. Write the person’s name and department in the second and third lines. Add ATTN. in front of the person’s name to ensure the internal mail distribution system sends the mail to the correct office and desk.
Example:
MADAME SALMA CHOUCHENE
Or
ABC S.A.
ATTN: MADAME SALMA CHOUCHENE
HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT
Street Address
In the second line, write the building number, followed by the street name of the residential or business address. If the recipient uses a P.O. box, write “B.P.” followed by the box number.
Example:
23 AVENUE HABIB BOURGUIBA
Or
B.P. 45
Postal Code, District, and City
In the third line, write the four-digit postcode along with the district and the city name where the recipient lives. Kairouan, Gabès, and Bizerte are some of the districts in Tunisia. Some famous cities include Tunis, Sfax, and Sousse.
Example:
1324 DOUZ KEBILI
Country Name
Write the name of the country in the last line. When sending international mail to Tunisia, write the name in capital letters.
Example:
TUNISIA
Special Considerations for Writing a Tunisian Address
- Address Line Alignment: All the lines should be left-aligned.
- Address Placement: Write the address on the bottom right-hand corner of the envelope.
- Punctuation: Do not add a comma between the address elements sharing the same line.

Tunisia’s national postal service provider is La Poste Tunisienne. In addition to delivering letters and parcels, it offers banking services through the Postal Savings Bank (CCP), making it one of the country’s largest providers of basic financial services. Many Tunisians, especially those in underserved areas, rely on the postal network for savings accounts, money transfers, bill payments, and social security disbursements.
In recent years, the organization has undergone a digital transformation, introducing services such as online parcel tracking, e-commerce support, and mobile payment solutions.
