Address Verification Product Terms
Service-Specific Rules for Address Verification Customers
Last updated: April 29, 2026
These Address Verification Product Terms (“AV Terms”) apply to all use of PostGrid’s Address Verification Services. If there is any conflict between these AV Terms and any Underlying Agreement, these AV terms prevail.
These Address Verification Product Terms apply only to PostGrid’s real-time Address Verification API and do not apply to bulk address verification services, which may be subject to separate product terms, pricing, or written agreement.
Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meanings given to them in the Definitions section (or Definitions page), as applicable.
1. Definitions
Address Verification Services means PostGrid’s real-time Address Verification API made available via documented HTTP(S) REST endpoints, which enables Customer to submit individual address queries for validation, standardization, parsing, or autocomplete functionality and receive immediate system responses. Address Verification Services do not include bulk verification, file-based uploads, offline data cleansing, or other non-real-time processing services, which are governed by separate commercial terms if offered.
Customer Data means information that is owned or controlled by Customer, or that Customer is otherwise authorized to use, including data provided by Customer’s clients, affiliates, partners, or third-party data providers.
Max Address Throughput means the maximum number of individual addresses that PostGrid’s systems will process (including verify, autocomplete, or parse) per second. Unless otherwise specified in an Order Form or applicable plan, the Max Address Throughput is one hundred (100) addresses per second. For clarity, a single API Request may contain multiple addresses, but total address processing per second may not exceed the Max Address Throughput.
Rate Limit means the maximum number of API Requests that Customer may submit to the Address Verification API per second. An “API Request” means a single HTTP or HTTPS call made to any REST API endpoint made available and documented by PostGrid in its official API documentation, regardless of the number of addresses included in such call. Requests submitted in excess of the applicable Rate Limit may be throttled, delayed, or rejected.
Verification(s) or Lookup(s) means a single instance of data submission (whether automated, manual, intentional, or unintentional) by Customer to PostGrid’s Address Verification API for the purpose of address or postal code validation. Each such submission shall constitute one Verification, regardless of the method or intent of submission. For clarity, Verifications expressly exclude any submissions processed solely for geocoding purposes and such submissions shall not be counted as Verifications.
2. Services
- Address Verification – Standard API. Verification of individual and business addresses located within the United States and Canada.
- Address Verification – International API. Verification of individual and business addresses located within supported countries and territories worldwide, including the United States and Canada.
The specific Address Verification Services available to Customer — including the applicable APIs, supported countries, usage volumes, rate limits, per-lookup fees, overage rates, and subscription pricing — are limited to and governed by:
- for Customers purchasing under an executed Order Form, the products, pricing, and usage limits set out in the applicable Order Form; or
- for Customers accessing the Services through online self-serve signup, the plan, features, and usage limits selected and displayed in Customer’s account dashboard at the time of purchase or activation.
In the event of any conflict, the applicable Order Form (if any) controls over these AV Terms.
3. Address Verification API Access
During the applicable Subscription Term, Customer is granted a non-exclusive right to access and use the Address Verification API in accordance with the Underlying Agreement governing Customer’s use of the Services.
Customer’s use of the Address Verification API is subject to:
- the usage volumes, subscription tier, and pricing selected by Customer or specified in the applicable Order Form;
- applicable per-lookup or overage fees;
- technical documentation and integration requirements; and
- a default Rate Limit of five (5) lookup requests per second per user, unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing.
PostGrid may apply additional reasonable safeguards or rate limitations to protect system integrity and prevent abuse.
4. Service Performance & Availability
PostGrid will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide the Address Verification API in accordance with industry standards and the Service Level Agreement (“SLA”) available on PostGrid’s Legal Page.
Availability commitments, uptime calculations, service credits (if any), maintenance windows, exclusions, and incident procedures are governed exclusively by the SLA.
Except as expressly set out in the SLA, the Address Verification API is provided on an “as available” basis and may be subject to maintenance, third-party dependencies, and force majeure events.
For clarity:
- Scheduled maintenance and emergency maintenance are not counted as Downtime under the SLA.
- PostGrid is not responsible for outages or delays caused by third-party infrastructure providers, upstream data sources, or Customer systems and integrations.
5. Support
PostGrid will provide standard support for the Address Verification API via email and live chat during Business Hours, unless otherwise specified in an executed Order Form.
6. Changes to These Address Verification Product Terms
PostGrid may update or modify these AV Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Services, operational practices, third-party data provider requirements, or applicable law. Any updates will be posted on this page.
Unless otherwise stated, changes will become effective as of the “Last Updated” date. By continuing to access or use the Services after updated AV Terms are posted, Customer agrees to be bound by the revised terms.
These AV Terms supplement and form part of the agreement governing Customer’s use of the Services (including the applicable Underlying Agreement). In the event of any conflict between these AV Terms and the Master Services Agreement or Terms of Service forming part of the Underlying Agreement, these AV Terms will control solely with respect to the Address Verification Services.
